YOUR INFANT’S FIRST EVALUATION IN THE HOSPITAL

Before you deliver, tell a hospital nurse that your child will be a patient at Monument Avenue Pediatrics. The hospital will notify us of your child’s birth. The pediatrician’s first evaluation of your newborn includes a review of your pregnancy and delivery and an evaluation of feeding, urine and stool output, vital signs and any other issues that have come up during the neonatal period. The physical exam will be done in the hospital’s nursery. Our physicians are on staff at Henrico Doctors Hospital and St. Mary’s Hospital and will see your child within 24 hours after delivery. If you’re delivering at another hospital, a staff pediatrician will examine your infant and either give you a copy of the evaluation to take with you or fax it to your pediatrician before your first office visit.
